KANOPY BUFFERING ISSUES
If you are not able to play a video after logging in, or if movies are not playing on Kanopy, then follow these steps –
Check your Internet connection.
Kanopy needs at least 10 Mbps to stream videos in very high quality. If your speed is less than 10, you may need to check with your internet service provider. You can quickly check your internet speed by going to fast.com.
Restart your device
Sometimes, it is not your internet’s fault, but it’s the device you are using. Try to restart the streaming device and check if the device can access the internet properly.
Clear browser cache
if you are accessing Kanopy on your browser, a quick way to Kanopy Troubleshooting is to clear the cookies and cache. To quickly clear the cache and cookies, press Cntrl + shift + delete. A screen will pop up. Select clear cash and cookies from all-time [not the past hour].
This method should solve your problem, but be aware that you would have to log in to Kanopy again.
KANOPY LOG IN ISSUES
While logging in to Kanopy, you may encounter error messages. To know what they mean and how to troubleshoot Kanopy login errors, follow the solutions below-
” Your library card is not authorized to be used with Kanopy.”
Check your library card is not expired. If unsure, please ask your librarian if they have access to Kanopy. If you have pending monetary fines with your library card, make sure to clear them up. You may also need to recheck the type of card you have with your library. Your library may allow access to the service to particular kinds of cards.
“Invalid patron PIN”
Please double-check the pin you are entering while logging in. It may be that your library sets a pre-defined pin for Kanopy, and you may need to ask for access from the librarian or your university.
“Looks like this library card is registered already with an existing Kanopy account. Kindly check your email address and try again.”
This error pops up when you are signing up with the service. If your library card has already been used to sign up for a different account, you may get this error message. This generally happens when a card is re-issued to a person without resetting its affiliations. Please get in touch with your local library liaison to Kanopy Troubleshooting this error to reset the card.
“Your Library card/password is not recognized, or your account blocked.”
It may be that your card has not been activated yet. After adding your library card to your Kanopy account, make sure that there are no dues left on your card. Also, you may need to check if the library card you are using has an active partnership with Kanopy.
Many public libraries that had access are now ending their partnership with Kanopy. It is evident from this Tweet of New York Public Library discontinuing Kanopy services access to its cardholders.
MISCELLANEOUS ISSUES
Kanopy activation code not working.
This is a common issue. If your activation code is not working, you may need to log out and log in again. After a certain time, the code expires, and you need to enter the new code to activate Kanopy.
To refresh the Kanopy activation code, you need to go to settings and tap on “activate your device.”
Error while watching movies on the Kanopy
Please check if your browser is updated to the latest version. Also, try to access Kanopy from an incompatible system. You may get this error as most of the content in Kanopy is DRM protected.
Also, make sure your VPN supports streaming. It may happen that your VPN is not working as it should, and you may get the error message while watching shows.
How to fix poor video quality?
The poor video quality may be due to your internet connection. If all is working fine at your end, it may be that Kanopy servers are facing downtime. Wait a few minutes to see if the problem is resolved. Try restarting your device and clearing browser cache and cookies if it isn’t.
