Kanopy Kids is a special subsection of the kanopy TV movies and series platform. It is included with standard kanopy subscription, which is accessible through library card or a university membership.
Kanopy Kids has a wide selection of content ranging from movies, series, documentaries to short films. This content is directed to help kids develop motor and sensory skills and be an aid to their learning and development.
With content from kanopy kids, parents can make sure that their kids learn emotional, social and other important skills faster and be prepared to do well in the society.
The streaming section has curated content of mindful and thoughtful titles like Amazon Adventure 3D, A Town Called Panic, The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill, top spin and more.
The titles are very much suitable for preschoolers (age 2 to 4), little kids (age 5 to 7), Big kids (age 7 to 9) and tweens (age 10 to 12).

You can access children’s programming in Kanopy kids with your existing library card access/ membership access. Your kids can access content from PBS Kids, inspirational stories in an audio-visual format, educational videos, animated storybooks, classic movies, etc.

HOW TO ACCESS KANOPY KIDS?
Since the Kanopy Kids is included free of cost with every existing membership, you need to pay anything extra.
Steps for watching Kanopy Kids free of cost & in 3 simple steps –
- Log in to your Kanopy account. For detailed instructions on logging in and watching Kanopy on any device you own, please visit our in-depth guide.
- After you are successfully logged in, you need to click on “Kids” on the top right of the screen. You can see two options there. Your ” name ” is on the top left, the name by which the account was registered, and adjacent to it is “Kids.”
- If you are using the mobile app on Kanopy, you need to tap “More” at the bottom of the screen. You can find the “More” option at the bottom left of the screen and four other options – “Home, Browse, Search, My Links.” Click on More and then tap on “Go to Kanopy Kids.”

How?
Since Kanopy Kids is included with public library access and memberships of a standard Kanopy account, you do not need to pay anything for its access.
Other restrictions that apply to the Kanopy account may also apply to Kanopy Kids. For example, San Francisco Public Library offers eight video plays per month for Kanopy. Those eight plays include Kanopy Kids titles.
With Central Rappahannock Regional Library, you can use UNLIMITED plays for Kanopy Kid’s content.
PARENTAL CONTROLS IN KANOPY KIDS
Every parent can set up parental controls in Kanopy Kids to control what type of content their kid can watch.
All of the content is already filtered while you are in Kids mode. Further, the parent can set up a PIN to watch any age-inappropriate content or any content out of the kids’ mode.
Steps to activate Parental controls in Kanopy TV –
- Log in to your Kanopy account. Please visit our in-depth guide for detailed instructions on logging in and watching Kanopy on any device you own.
- Go to Dashboard and select “Parental Controls.” Alternatively, you can visit www.kanopy.com/parentalcontrols to reach the desired option directly.
- Tap on Turn On. After pressing the option, you will have to enter a four-digit pin and tap on Save.
- Parental controls are now activated on your account. The kids will have to enter the pin if they try to move out of the Kids’ zone or watch any content that is not approved for viewing by kids.
Disabling/ Resetting Pin
Go to parental controls and select turn on. You may need to enter the four-digit pin you set up earlier.
To reset the pin, select “Forgot Pin?” and select the send option. The service will mail the reset link to your email address.
HOW TO EXIT KANOPY KIDS MODE?
If you have parental controls set up, you need to enter the pin while exiting kids mode.
- Look at the top right of the screen where you initially entered the kids’ mode.
- You will find an option to exit the mode there.
- Tap on it and enter the pin.
- You will not need to enter the pin if parental controls aren’t set up.
